Building the team that builds the future

October 6, 2026
Matt Barrow, Group CEO

When I joined Provectus in 2023, I used to describe it as the best kept secret in the contaminated land industry. We were doing genuinely excellent work across complex brownfield remediation, enabling works and soils management but almost nobody outside our existing client base knew we existed.

Employee ownership in 2023 changed that. The business wasn't just being handed on. It was being handed forward. My appointment as Group CEO at the end of last year was the moment I felt we could start talking about that shift properly, not just internally, but to the market.

Provectus has changed structurally, commercially, and in terms of ambition. We haven't been loud enough about it, which is why I want to be clear about it now.

A group built to deliver differently

Provectus Group today comprises three specialist businesses: Provectus Remediation, Provectus Soils Management, and Envirosafe. Each trades independently. Together, they offer something genuinely uncommon: an integrated approach to contaminated land, surplus soils management, and environmental testing that allows us to operate as a Tier 0.5 partner.

That phrase gets people talking. I designed it that way. We're not a Tier 1 contractor with the overhead and price tag that comes with it. We sit between consultancy and main contracting, bringing the planning, technical rigour, and stakeholder management of a Tier 1, with the agility and cost efficiency of a specialist. Cardiff Arena is the clearest proof of concept. We took a make-contract role, managed stakeholders, delivered lump sum and fixed price, and handed over a site the client was genuinely happy with. That's the offer in practice.

The leadership team behind it

I want to be clear about something. I'm not building layers of management for the sake of it. What I want is a strong leadership team made up of people with genuine expertise, clear accountability, and the autonomy to lead their areas, while working collectively towards the Group strategy.

Paul Garbett joined as Group Finance Director and brings exactly that to the commercial and financial side of the business. As we grow, having strong financial governance and making sure that growth translates into sustainable profitability is increasingly important. Paul provides that discipline.

Natalie Walker is developing into a broader Group compliance leadership role, covering health and safety, quality, and environmental management across our delivery. As the Group grows and the complexity of our work increases, that function becomes more critical, and Natalie is building it properly. These are the kinds of appointments that don't always make headlines but shape how a business actually performs.

Nick's appointment and why it matters

Which brings me to the news I'm particularly pleased to share. Nick Invernizzi joins us in October as Managing Director of Provectus Soils Management.

Nick brings a very relevant mix of experience. Most recently he was with Berkeley Group as Head of Special Projects, with a particular focus on complex brownfield regeneration. That client-side perspective matters because he genuinely understands the challenges developers face around ground risk, programme, viability, and delivery. He has been on the other side of the table, and that changes how you think about the problems we're solving.

Nick has also worked alongside me previously in remediation contracting, so I know his capabilities well. And he has practical hands-on experience in soils treatment operations, which gives him a strong understanding of both the technical and operational side of the sector. That combination of client-side, contracting, and treatment experience is a key reason why this appointment matters.

Provectus Soils Management is at an important stage in its development. We already have a strong team and established capability across soils treatment, recovery, disposal, and materials management. Nick brings additional leadership, broader sector knowledge, and a brownfield perspective that will help us develop the business further and strengthen the connection between Soils Management and the wider Group offer.

Where we're heading

We're not trying to be everything to everyone. We're trying to be the most trusted, most capable integrated specialist in our sector. The business that clients come to early and keep coming back to. The leadership team we've built is the foundation for that. The arrival of Nick, alongside everything else that has evolved over the past two years, is a deliberate signal about the direction we're heading in.

We were the best kept secret in contaminated land. We're not planning on staying that way.
