Project Overview

Provectus was appointed to support the redevelopment of a former industrial and chemical processing site in Dagenham, preparing the ground for the creation of Eastbrook Studios - the UK’s largest film studio campus.

The site presented a number of environmental and geotechnical challenges, including contamination, obstructions, and variable ground conditions. Our role was to deliver a remediation and enabling works package that created a safe, compliant, and construction-ready platform for this landmark scheme.

Key Challenges

Legacy contamination from historic chemical and industrial activities.
Requirement for a compliant Remediation Implementation Plan and Materials Management Plan (MMP).
Excavation and management of approximately 30,000 m³ of soils.
Presence of significant below-ground obstructions and need for pile proving.

Our Approach

Prepared and implemented a Remediation Implementation Plan, integrating waste classification and regulatory approvals.
Deployed a Mobile Treatment Licence (MTL) to enable on-site processing and maximise reuse of materials.
Delivered a Materials Management Plan (MMP) under CL:AIRE protocols to facilitate sustainable reuse of site-won soils.
Managed excavation, treatment, and off-site transfer of 30,000 m³ of soils, ensuring compliance with WM3 waste classification.
Used a bespoke cloud-based iOS app for real-time waste consignment tracking, ensuring transparency and traceability for all off-site disposals.
Carried out obstruction removal and pile proving across the site.
Designed and constructed pile platforms in phased sections to support the next stage of development.
Maintained a full-time site presence of trained and competent staff, providing oversight and quality assurance.

We worked in close partnership with VolkerFitzpatrick, regulators, and the wider design team to coordinate approvals, logistics, and sequencing. By integrating remediation, enabling works, and digital waste tracking, Provectus ensured seamless delivery that aligned with the client’s programme for this nationally significant project.
