Ground Engineering Awards 2015

Provectus were Highly Commended for both the sustainability award and technical excellence award at the Ground Engineering Awards 2015.

Both award nominations were for our works on the Shawfields site in Glasgow which is part of the Clyde Gateway Regeneration Project. Provectus worked as a specialist remediation contractor on the VHE / AECOM led project.

Provectus were engaged for their ability to deliver specialist innovative solutions to issues on a scale which has never been deliveredbefore. In this case the requirement was to inject 3,850,000 litres of calcium polysulphide solution into 6721 bespoke drilled injection points over a period of six months. The injected fluid reacts with the existing hexavalent chromium to form more stable and less aggressive trivalent chromium.

The contract formed a part of the Commonwealth Games legacy with some of the treated area being handed over for public open space in time for the opening event. The project has enabled other areas in the locality to be considered for future re-generation.

Building upon many years of in-situ groundwater treatment expertise, Provectus have further developed in-house specialist equipment and technical knowledge to enable in-situ groundwater treatment injection works to be undertaken to time & cost at a scale never achieved before. This has been proved with the delivery of the Shawfields contract which is a first of its scale worldwide.
